2. Scope and Applicability
This HSE Policy applies to:
2.1 Operations
- Railway operations — Loading, unloading, and cargo handling at leased railway sidings and goods sheds
- Road transport — Full Truck Load (FTL), Part Load (PTL), and Direct Customer Delivery (D2C) operations
- Warehousing — All company-operated and leased warehouse facilities, hubs, and cargo consolidation points
- Office premises — Registered office at Lower Parel, Mumbai and all branch offices
2.2 Geographic Coverage
All operational locations across our service network:
- Gujarat — Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Daman
- Maharashtra — Mumbai Metropolitan Region (Panvel, Bhiwandi), Nashik, Pune
- West Bengal — Kolkata, Siliguri, and surrounding areas
- Northeast India — Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura
- Sikkim — Gangtok and surrounding areas
2.3 Personnel
- All permanent and contractual employees of MINT Logistics
- Contractors, sub-contractors, and their employees working on our behalf
- Temporary workers, trainees, and visitors at our premises
- Transport drivers operating under MINT Logistics assignments
3. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
MINT Logistics is committed to full compliance with all applicable Indian laws and regulations pertaining to health, safety, and the environment, including but not limited to:

4. Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
4.1 Risk Assessment Process
MINT Logistics follows a systematic Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) process:
- Identify — Recognise hazards across all operational activities (railway operations, road transport, warehousing, material handling)
- Assess — Evaluate the likelihood and severity of potential harm
- Control — Implement appropriate control measures following the hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, personal protective equipment)
- Review — Periodically reassess risks and update control measures
4.2 Risk Registers
- MINT Logistics is working towards establishing formal risk registers at each operational location to document identified hazards, assessed risk levels, and control measures
- Risk registers, once established, will be reviewed periodically and updated when there are changes in operations, equipment, or regulations
- High-risk activities require specific safe work procedures and supervisory oversight
4.3 Cargo-Specific Risk Assessment
Given the diverse commodities we handle — pharmaceutical raw materials, textiles, chemicals, automotive components, and FMCG goods — cargo-specific risk assessments are conducted to address:
- Material handling requirements and incompatibility risks
- Storage conditions and segregation needs
- Loading and securing methods for different cargo types
- Spill or contamination response requirements
5. Operational Safety Controls
5.1 Railway Operations
- Strict adherence to Indian Railway siding rules during loading and unloading
- Authorised personnel only for wagon operations and marshalling activities
- Pre-operation safety checks on wagons, containers, and handling equipment
- Safe stacking and securing of cargo within wagons per RDSO guidelines
- Coordination with railway authorities for safe movement within siding premises
5.2 Road Transport
- All vehicles operating under MINT Logistics must be roadworthy with valid fitness certificates, insurance, and permits
- Drivers must hold valid licences appropriate to the vehicle class and undergo safety orientation
- Pre-trip vehicle inspection checklist covering brakes, tyres, lights, mirrors, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits
- Prohibition of driving under the influence of alcohol or substances
- Adherence to prescribed speed limits and driving hour regulations to prevent fatigue-related incidents
- Cargo securing and load distribution procedures for each vehicle type
5.3 Warehousing and Material Handling
- Safe stacking heights and storage practices to prevent collapses
- Proper aisle widths maintained for emergency egress and equipment movement
- Mechanical handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks) operated only by trained and authorised personnel
- Segregation of incompatible materials, particularly for chemical and pharmaceutical cargo
- Housekeeping standards maintained to prevent slips, trips, and falls
5.4 Container and Trailer Operations
- Safe procedures for container loading, unloading, and lashing
- Trailer coupling and decoupling protocols
- Inspection of company-owned containers and trailers for structural integrity before each use
6. Health and Occupational Well-being
6.1 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Appropriate PPE is provided at no cost to all personnel based on job requirements and hazard assessments
- Minimum PPE requirements at operational sites: safety footwear, high-visibility vests, hard hats (where overhead hazards exist), and work gloves
- Specialised PPE for specific tasks (respiratory protection for dust-prone cargo, chemical-resistant gloves for chemical handling)
- Regular inspection and replacement of worn or damaged PPE
6.2 Health Monitoring
- Driver health and fitness assessments including vision and hearing tests
- Pre-trip fitness checks for drivers on long-haul routes
- Access to first aid facilities at all operational locations
6.3 First Aid and Medical Preparedness
- Trained first aiders available at each operational site during working hours
- First aid kits maintained and replenished at all locations and in all vehicles
- Emergency contact numbers for nearest hospitals and emergency services displayed at all sites
6.4 Fatigue Management
- Compliance with driving hour regulations under the Motor Vehicles Act
- Adequate rest periods for drivers on long-haul routes
- Rotation of personnel for physically demanding tasks
- Monitoring of overtime hours to prevent fatigue-related incidents
7. Training and Competency
7.1 Safety Induction
- All new employees, contractors, and visitors receive a safety induction before commencing work at any MINT Logistics location
- Induction covers site-specific hazards, emergency procedures, PPE requirements, and reporting obligations
7.2 Role-Specific Training
- Drivers — Defensive driving, cargo securing, emergency response, and first aid
- Warehouse personnel — Material handling equipment operation, safe stacking, chemical awareness
- Railway operations staff — Siding safety, wagon loading procedures, railway-specific emergency protocols
- Supervisors and managers — Incident investigation, risk assessment, and HSE leadership
7.3 Refresher Training
- Annual refresher training on HSE procedures for all operational personnel
- Targeted retraining following incidents, near-misses, or changes in procedures
- Emergency response drills to be conducted periodically at operational locations as part of our safety improvement plan
7.4 Records
Training records are maintained for all personnel, documenting training received, competencies assessed, and refresher schedules.
8. Emergency Preparedness and Response
8.1 Emergency Plans
- Each operational location maintains a site-specific emergency response plan
- Plans cover fire, medical emergencies, natural disasters, chemical spills, and security incidents
- Emergency plans are reviewed and updated annually or following any incident
8.2 Fire Safety

- Fire extinguishers provided, inspected, and serviced per statutory requirements

- All incidents, injuries, near-misses, and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to the site supervisor
- Reporting is a duty of every person at our sites — no adverse consequences for good-faith reporting
- Statutory reporting to government authorities as required under applicable laws (e.g., Factories Act, Railways Act)
9.2 Investigation Process
- All reported incidents and significant near-misses are investigated to determine root causes
- Investigation proportionate to actual or potential severity of the incident
- Investigations are completed within a defined timeframe and documented

- Root cause analysis leads to specific corrective actions to prevent recurrence

10. Environmental Management
10.1 Environmental Commitment

10.2 Waste Management
- Proper segregation, storage, and disposal of waste generated at all facilities
- Hazardous waste managed in accordance with the Hazardous and Other Wastes Rules, 2016
- Packaging materials recycled or disposed of responsibly
- Waste disposal through authorised vendors and facilities only
10.3 Emissions and Energy
- Preference for rail transport where feasible, leveraging its lower carbon footprint compared to road transport

- Preference for multi-modal rail-road transport to reduce road-only freight emissions
- Consolidation of cargo to optimise vehicle utilisation and reduce empty-run kilometres
- Progressive adoption of cleaner technologies and fuels as they become commercially viable
11. Contractor and Supplier HSE Requirements
11.1 Pre-Qualification
- Contractors and transport partners are evaluated on their HSE capabilities and track record before engagement
- Safety expectations are communicated during the onboarding process
11.2 Contractual Obligations
- All contracts with service providers include HSE clauses requiring compliance with MINT Logistics' HSE standards and applicable laws
- Contractors must ensure their personnel are trained, competent, and equipped with appropriate PPE
11.3 Monitoring and Performance
- Contractor HSE performance is monitored through site inspections and incident reports
- Persistent non-compliance with HSE requirements may result in termination of the contract
- Contractors are required to report all incidents occurring in connection with MINT Logistics operations

- Reviews consider incident trends, audit findings, regulatory changes, training effectiveness, and resource adequacy

MINT Logistics has structured its HSE management approach with reference to internationally recognised standards:

13.2 Certification Roadmap
Formal certification to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 is a strategic objective for MINT Logistics. We are building the management systems, documentation, and operational discipline necessary to pursue certification in the future. This policy and the procedures under it form the foundation for that journey.
14. Management Responsibilities and Accountability
14.1 Director
- Overall accountability for HSE performance across the organisation
- Ensures adequate resources are allocated for HSE management
- Leads by example in demonstrating commitment to health, safety, and the environment
14.2 Site Managers and Supervisors
- Responsible for implementing this policy and HSE procedures at their locations
- Ensure personnel are trained, equipped, and aware of their HSE responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections and address unsafe conditions promptly
- Investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented
14.3 All Personnel
- Every individual has a personal responsibility to work safely and protect the environment
- Follow established HSE procedures and use provided PPE
- Report hazards, near-misses, and incidents without delay
- Participate in HSE training and emergency drills
- Exercise the right to stop any work they believe is unsafe
15. Policy Review
